I call these the multiplayer trophies but they're all centred around the two Spec Ops game modes; missions and survival. So if you don't enjoy these game modes, then unfortunately you're not going to like these trophies very much. I personally quite like the Spec Ops modes, it's just a shame that their implementation is sort of flawed, which ruins the experience a little bit. The Ops are obviously designed to work best when you play with a friend but I found that if you didn't have your own buddy to team up with, the online match making system was borderline pointless. Still, I had fun, even if it meant I had to play on my own sometimes lol
------------------
50/50 - Complete a Special Ops Mission Mode game with the same number of kills as your partner.
The easiest way to complete this trophy is to play the first target practice mission, simply take turns shooting a target and by the time you reach the end, you should each have the same number of kills. I actually did this one on my own using splitscreen and a second controller but seeing as you need a partner for some of the other Spec Ops missions, you might as well just do it at the same time as doing those.
------------------
Birdie - Kill 2 enemy helicopters without getting hit in a Special Ops Survival game.
This trophy isn't too bad to earn because every survival game is structured and so you'll always have that one wave when you face two helicopters. Seeing as you need to reach wave 10 for each map, you'll have multiple chances to attempt the trophy.
Everyone will have their own preferences but I completed this trophy on the map Resistance, if you just camp in that central building, you can take pot shots at the helicopters. Alternatively you can just invest in a Predator missile and try to get a double with it.
The helicopter's weapons require a short spin up time before they are able to fire, so pay attention to this sound and rush for cover as soon as you hear it. There's no time limit to this trophy, so you can play as safe as you like.
------------------
Serrated Edge - Finish a Juggernaut with a knife.
This trophy is a little easier if attempted with a partner (who is acting as a distraction) but is still very doable on your own. The amount of health a Juggernaut has varies with the wave number, the higher the wave, the more health he has, so it's best to attempt this on the first one. When the Juggernaut drops into the game, you'll want to keep him alive until he's the last enemy standing/flying.
I suggest putting a couple clips into him first, to soften him up. Now you'll need to pick a location to ambush him, ideally somewhere with lots of cover that you can quickly dart behind because it's highly unlikely that you will kill him with your first strike.
Once you've lured him to your killzone, toss out a flash bang to blind him, then it's time to get close and personal. You can probably get a couple swipes in before he recovers but I wouldn't linger much longer than that. Fall back to cover and then simply rinse and repeat until you get the kill.
------------------
Arms Dealer - Buy all items from the Survival Weapon Armory.
Danger Zone - Buy all items from the Survival Air Support Armory.
Defense Spending - Buy all items from the Survival Equipment Armory.
These trophies are quite time consuming because in order to purchase all the items, you'll need to have some serious bank. The good news is however, that your progress will carry over between games, so you don't need to buy everything in a single match.
I highly recommend you make a list of all the items in each of the armouries and then crossing them off as you go along, trust me, this will make things a lot easier for you keep track of.
You'll be playing a lot of Spec Ops Survival on the way to earning your Platinum for MW3, so you should have ample opportunity to purchase every armoury item at least once.
------------------
Get Rich or Die Trying - Have $50,000 current balance in a Special Ops Survival game.
You'll need to progress to quite a high wave before you'll earn $50k and this is assuming you don't spend anything. But of course you will be spending because otherwise you're not going to get very far. The trick here is to pick up and re-use enemy weapons, refilling ammo is much cheaper than buying new weapons, it's up to you if you want to upgrade them with attachments.
------------------
I Live - Survive 1 wave in a Special Ops Survival game.
Simple enough trophy, just play any Specs Ops Survival and actually use your controller.
------------------
Survivor - Reach Wave 10 in each mission of Special Ops Survival mode.
Unstoppable - Reach Wave 15 in each mission of Special Ops Survival mode.
Reaching wave 10 should be fairly standard for most players, if you're struggling, you could get a buddy to help out but I think between you and two turrets, you'll be OK. Reaching wave 15 for the last few hardest maps however, is definitely more of a challenge but hopefully by the time you unlock these maps, you'll have plenty of experience to fall back on.
While each map has different terrain, every one will have a location that you can hold down. The turrets are really good, so you should definitely be using them to your advantage. Air support can help but they are expensive and can leave you vulnerable to attack, perks should be bought as soon as you have the spare cash and always make sure you stock up on defensive items.
------------------
No Assistance Required - Complete a Special Ops Mission Mode game on Hardened or Veteran with no player getting downed.
This trophy can be earned on either of the target practice courses, where it's impossible to get downed by the "enemies". Just don't do anything stupid, like committing suicide.
------------------
Brag Rags - Earn 1 star in Special Ops Mission Mode.
You're going to need to get every single star before you Plat MW3, this trophy should pop as soon as you beat your first Spec Ops mission.
------------------
Tactician - Earn 1 star in each mission of Special Ops Mission Mode.
Overachiever - Earn 48 stars in Special Ops Mission Mode.
If you prefer, you can try each mission on normal difficulty to see what it's like, thus earning your one star in the process. But if like me, you decide to go straight for Veteran, you can try and knock out all three stars in one attempt.
The hardest missions are the co-op ones and the ones that are timed. You will fail many times, I'm not going to lie to you. But each time you fail, you will hopefully learn something that will eventually allow you to complete the mission.
While you can do every mission with a partner, in my experience, some of them are actually easier to do solo. There are plenty of videos on YouTube for you to watch if you want to see how a mission plays out but at the end of the day, it's all about practice.
Below are videos of the last three Spec Ops missions that I needed to beat on Veteran before I eventually earned my Platinum:
Below are videos of the last three Spec Ops missions that I needed to beat on Veteran before I eventually earned my Platinum:
> Spec Ops Mission - Firewall (on Foot) - Veteran Difficulty
> Spec Ops Mission - Fire Mission (as AC-130 Gunner) - Veteran Difficulty
> Spec Ops Mission - Flood the Market - Solo / Single Player - Veteran Difficulty
> Spec Ops Mission - Fire Mission (as AC-130 Gunner) - Veteran Difficulty
> Spec Ops Mission - Flood the Market - Solo / Single Player - Veteran Difficulty
------------------
I think getting three stars in each of the Spec Ops missions will be the hardest task but if you can get yourself a good partner, they should be doable. The problem is that this late in the games life, you'll struggle find one using the built in match making system. Your best bet is to ask a mate to help you out or befriend someone who playing the multiplayer and also needs the trophies.
