There were several leaks in the last week with many outlets posting various listings on their websites promoting the, as of then, yet to be announced 2013 Call of Duty title. Well as of today, Activision have officially confirmed that the new game will be called Call of Duty: Ghosts, details are very thin on the ground at the moment but I expect you'll soon hear all sorts of rumours from everyone and their mother. As you can see from the title image, a reveal will take place on the 21st of May at the new Xbox 720 reveal event but if you're game enough, many places are already offering you the ability to pre-order. I'm not really sure why you'd want to pre-order something you've only seen a title for but I suppose I'd be lying if I didn't say it's almost a certainty that I myself will be purchasing CoD: Ghosts at some point after launch. Ghosts is confirmed for this generation of consoles, what is less clear is whether it'll be also be available for the next generation of consoles, probably not a concern for most of us XD
There is a short teaser trailer that was uploaded to YouTube but there isn't much to it really, it's basically a photo shoot of various mask wearing figures, there's no gameplay, no hints toward story lines or anything significant for that matter. As always if you fancy reading what I have to say, I discuss a little bit about a couple of the scenes in my mini analysis, which you can find after the trailer below.

"Call of Duty: Ghosts - There are those who wear masks to protect themselves. And there are those who wear masks to protect us all."
AcornVision Trailer Analysis
The first thing that hit me is that the reveal for CoD: Ghosts will happen at the Xbox 720 reveal, this implies that Microsoft and Activision will be continuing/renewing their current DLC exclusivity deal into the next generation of consoles, which is very disappointing.
The next thing to note is the voice over audio, which I've partially quoted above, the wording suggests that these so called squad of "Ghosts" are a force who's role is to ensure our safety. This probably comes as no surprise, as all CoD titles since Modern Warfare have revolved around special task forces, who go on operations to keep the world safe from those that would harm the innocent.
The last thing that caught my eye was the posing squad of soldiers, standing in the dark and all wearing masks(?) Clearly these are the "Ghosts" the game is referring too but it's hard to decipher from the video whether they're all from the same regiment/unit or a collection from different armed forces.
Looking at the same scene, I think I recognise one or two weapons as being from this generation, so perhaps Ghosts will follow a similar time line of the Modern Warfare series. There's also a dog standing next to one of the soldiers, dogs do form part of bomb squads in real life, so maybe that's the role of one of the characters.
The location of the scene is very generic, it looks like some war torn area, perhaps a location situated behind enemy lines. Possibly the Ghost have infiltrated a country in turmoil, perhaps some unruly dictator needs assassinating or maybe they were just attacked and managed to survived a bombing?
Right now, your guess is as good as mine but I think it's a safe bet to say that with a name such as 'Ghosts', I imagine their area of expertise is recon/infiltration/sabotage, most likely somewhere other than their home country, though of course evil isn't restricted to foreigners.
I'll bring you more as I hear it. AL
