Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Apocalypse DLC (Map Pack 4) Coming 27th August [Trailer Inside]

As summer draws to a close, we get ever nearer to the end of the Black Ops 2 cycle but just as we're all starting to get caught up in the hype of a new Call of Duty title, Treyarch have announced the fourth and final DLC pack of the current game. Titled as 'Apocalypse', this last DLC drop consists of, as per usual, four multiplayer maps (Pod, Frost, Take Off and Dig) and another brand new Zombies adventure, named 'Origins'. Now, I don't usually get excited for DLC drops but I must admit that Treyarch have definitely peaked my interest with this final set. I'm not talking soo much about the multiplayer maps, which by the way contain only two new maps this time, as Take Off and Dig are remakes of fan favourites from past titles; Stadium from Black Ops 1 and Courtyard from World at War (respectively). More rather the new Zombies map, which is rumoured to be the final chapter (figuratively speaking) of the existing Zombies storyline, where we go back in time to era of World War 1 and find out exactly how the saga began. I do talk a bit more about the trailer further down (mainly Zombies related) but if you'd rather watch it for yourself (which I highly recommend you do), you can find it embedded below for your convenience.

I'll just give you a sec to recover from that tantalising trailer before I carry on, OK, all good? Let's continue, so obviously the format of the Zombies adventure remains the same but we were told about some new additions and minor changes. First off, our characters now begin with a new weapon because of the change in time period but I'm guessing it'll be as powerful as the current starting pistol i.e. not very, lol. Secondly the scope of the map is said the be the biggest they've ever attempted, does this mean it'll be bigger than Tranzit O_O, if it is, that would be soo awesome. They mention the weather briefly, in that it'll be changing from time to time (snow, rain, fog), not really sure how much that'll affect the gameplay or whether it's just aesthetics. Then they showed us the moving 'Zombie Tank' platform, which can be used to traverse the map and as a slightly raised position, from which to fight the waves of "freakbags" ;) And last but by no means least, the HUGE towering robot, soo many questions about that thing but very little was revealed in the trailer.

As well as all that, not only do we (hopefully) discover the reasons why we battle waves of the walking dead but it may please some of you to hear that we'll be once again taking on the roles of the original zombie fighting squad; Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki and Edward Richtofen. Fresher fans of the Zombies game mode might not have played as them before but for seasoned vets, these characters hold a somewhat special place in our Zombie stomping memories. Not only do we learn about the start of the Zombie infestation of the planet but apparently we also find out how the mixed bag team actually joined up in the first place, something that has always lingered on my mind. Anyway, all I can say is, if Origins is indeed the grand finale of this current Zombies adventure, I think it's very fitting that we go out fighting as the original squad and I very much look forward to finding out the conclusion of the story.

Black Ops 2 map pack four will be out on the 27th of August, first for Xbox 360 and other platforms one month after, the price has not yet been released but I imagine it'll be similar to, if not the same as previous packs.

What did you think of the trailer and how are you excited for this DLC? Let me know below :)
