Mass Effect 3 Weekend Operation: Tribute (22nd-24th Feb 2013)

This weeks weekend operation details has been released:
Event Description: A surprise Reaper assault inflicted deeply-felt casualties on our N7 teams and interrupted supply lines to several worlds. Many units will have to rely on standard-issue sidearms and munitions. We must honor and avenge our comrades who fell – and let the Reapers know this was a mistake, not a victory.

Individual Goal - Two objectives are required:

  1) Earn 50,000 points using the M-8 Avenger.

2) Earn 50,000 points using Inferno Grenades.

Rewards: Commendation Pack and a special tribute banner

On the forums it appears that this particular event is in memory of one of the voice actors of the Mass Effect series, who passed away earlier this year, Robin Sachs voiced the popular character Zaeed.

Currently only two characters have access to Inferno 'nades, the Krogan and Batarian Soldiers. If you like using grenade powers this part of the operation should be fairly simple and even if you don't usually use grenades, they're probably the second easiest type to use. If you didn't know Inferno Grenades have an area of effect damage and any enemies caught in the blast radius will continue to burn for a set period of time. Very devastating against armoured units, so I'll probably be picking Firebase Glacier with Reapers and just fire bomb spawn sites ;)

I haven't touched the Avenger assault rifle since my first week on ME3 multiplayer, so it'll be interesting to see how I do with it, now that I'm a seasoned veteran :P I guess you could just use it with either of the soldiers above but I think that you'll complete the grenade points way before the weapon points. If that's the case any number of character kits can increase the M-8's killing potential, the N7 Destroyer and Turian Ghost Infiltrator spring to mind. Due to weak base weapon damage, it might be worthwhile to slap on an AR amp and ammo bonuses.

You can read the official Bioware blog post here but I quoted the text exactly.
